Toroa Village has a small river running nearby that could be used in setting up a micro-hydro power generator. Hydro power has a number of advantages over other forms of power generation including significant cost effectiveness. But before this can go ahead a careful site survey would need to be done to find a suitable location.

 

A site survey could be done while the work team is at Toroa installing the solar system.  If a suitable site is found, planning could proceed for a stage 2 project which would combine hydo with the existing solar system.
